Ismael
de la Rosa

Backend-leaning full-stack engineer

I own the ingestion and AI layers of a public-procurement platform in production, where my work is measured in uptime, query latency and API cost per request.

Journey

Five years of steady climbing

From wiring networks to owning ingestion for a production SaaS. Every stop is a step up.

2021IES Gerald Brenan

Technician Diploma in Microcomputer Systems & Networks

Networks, systems and hardware. This is where the route starts.

2023MEDAC Nova, Málaga

Higher Technician Diploma in Web Development

EQF Level 5, two years post-secondary.

2024Fundación Telefónica

42 Málaga

Selective full-time C and Unix immersion, learning peer to peer.

2025Patrimar Inversiones

Web Developer (internship)

The company web platform in PHP and JavaScript, in a two-person team.

2025Solbyte

PHP Full-Stack Developer

8+ client projects to fixed agency deadlines: custom booking platforms, CRM/ERP work and internal tools. In-house and third-party REST APIs, DNS and Cloudflare.

2026Mainjobs

Full-Stack PHP Engineer

Ingestion and AI layers of a multi-tenant SaaS for public-sector tender tracking.

Now · Mainjobs · May 2026 – present

One raw record, from source to customer

Multi-tenant SaaS for Spanish public-sector tender tracking · Laravel 12, Filament, MySQL, Redis queues, Forge.

01 · Ingestion

Six public sources, one shape

Regional and EU procurement sources, including attachment download behind captchas and rotating proxies. I fixed region- and deadline-parsing defects that were silently hiding thousands of tenders from customers’ search results.

02 · AI layer

Provider resolved per service

A versioned registry resolves provider and model across OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini, with fallback when a provider has no credentials, per-model cost tracking and threshold alerts. It replaced a setup where one missing environment variable silently ran the most expensive model at roughly 10x the cost.

03 · Product

AI inside the tender view, blocking nothing

An LLM proposal generator with per-company knowledge sources, plan-based quotas and queued generation, so a long job never blocks a request. Large modules ship behind feature flags, in parts.

04 · Performance

The most-used screen, 170x faster

I restructured the ordering and pagination path of the main tender listing query.

How I work

Coding agents, held to pull-request standards

I work daily with Claude Code and Codex. Their output goes through what any other code goes through: tests, static analysis and review. And it gets reverted when it is wrong.

A test you have never seen fail proves nothing

Before calling a fix done, I undo it and check that the test goes red.

Static analysis at zero

Larastan catches missing classes and methods before they reach production.

Shipping in parts

Feature flags let large modules go out without waiting for everything.

The unglamorous layer

Encoding corruption in extracted PDFs, pagination and timezones: what nobody sees until it breaks.

Side project

Libro de Trayectos

What a car trip really costs, split between the people in it.

It computes the real cost of each trip, including the effect of elevation gain and the ceiling on how much of a descent a hybrid’s battery can actually absorb.

It splits the cost with double-entry bookkeeping: every trip is a journal entry whose lines sum to zero, enforced by a deferred PostgreSQL trigger. No script can unbalance the ledger, and money is integer cents throughout.

Live distance and elevation from OpenRouteService, degrading in steps when a free quota runs out, plus official ministry fuel prices.
